Our Rescue

Great Dane Rescue & Adoption Texas was founded in honor of Max — a Great Dane whose life ended far too soon in June 2013. Despite urgent pleas, rehabilitation offers, and a safe placement waiting for him, Max was needlessly euthanized. He was only seven years old.

That heartbreaking moment changed us forever. We made a promise: every dog we rescue will receive the care, advocacy, and second chance that Max was denied. The Great Danes we save today are his living legacy.

💚 Our Mission

We are a volunteer‑driven nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming Great Danes and other giant breed dogs across Texas. Every transport arranged, every medical bill covered, and every scared dog given time to heal is a promise kept to Max.

🏡 What We Do

• Rescue: Saving Great Danes from shelters, unsafe environments, and owner surrenders.

• Rehabilitate: Providing medical care, behavioral support, and loving foster homes.

• Rehome: Matching each Dane with families who will cherish them forever.

• Advocate: Speaking up for dogs in need, ensuring their voices are heard.

🌟 Our Values

• Compassion: Every dog deserves dignity, love, and a chance to thrive.

• Commitment: We fight for every life, no matter how challenging the journey.

• Community: Volunteers, fosters, and donors make our mission possible.

• Transparency: Clear processes and open communication build trust with adopters and supporters.

❤️ Why It Matters

Great Danes are known as Gentle Giants, but their size often makes them vulnerable in shelters. Without strong advocacy, many face unnecessary euthanasia. By stepping in, we ensure these dogs are given the chance Max never had — a chance to heal, to be loved, and to live.
